A Collective of Organized Tenants
North Spaulding Renters' Association formed in March 2020 in reaction to the onset of COVID-19 and the dispassionate response of our viciously capitalist landlord, Mark Fishman.
Fishman's property management company, M. Fishman & Co., is a notorious gentrifier and slumlord in the Logan Square and Humboldt Park neighborhoods of Northwest Chicago. We have come together to divest power from this profiteer and take it back as citizens and tenants of this neighborhood.Â
We are a tenant-led, nonhierarchical group with a focus on mutual aid and the development of power structures in opposition to the oligarchies that control our lives.Â
Tenants deserve a voice, and we are here to lift each other's voices! Tenants deserve to be safe and warm, and we keep us safe! Tenants deserve to be respected and raised up, and we respect and raise up one anotherr!
